Geekiest Show Ever 280 – The ForeFather & Foreplay Episode

GSE280
After the weather report (Mike and Elisa are cold and Melissa has the weather they want). After that we go inside baseball and talk about our new recording process. We started using Discord for talking and Piezo for recording.

Then some updates on Elisa’s Apple Watch which leads to a discussion of Apple support and education.

We are shocked to find out Mike actually is from Earth and he has the test to prove it. He discusses his Ancestry.com DNA test results which leads to explore our genealogy and telling different family stories.

Last but by no means least we do our picks. Melissa surprises with an eargasm with the FS Binaural Microphone for those people with hearing good enough to appreciate it. And keeping it in the listening vein Elisa want the Apple Home Pod. Since it’s play money we all might buy but if it was really money we would probably skip it (even Mike the gadget guy). To round it out Mike cheats by adjusting the price on the fly and picks the Myo Gesture Control Armband. This could be used for presentations, disabled people and of gamers.

Geekiest Show Ever 279 – Showdown at High Sierra

GSE279
This week’s episode is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. We start as always with the weather (which for Kevin might be bad).

Then we move on the good. Elisa updates on her Apple Watch saga that will end with her getting a new watch. After that things get ugly. Elisa tells us about her attempt to update to High Sierra (believe me no hilarity ensues). After 4 hours on the phone with Applecare there are still no answers. The tale will continue.

After all that we decide to do some therapeutic shopping. In spite of everything Elisa is still going to stick with Apple and get the iPhone X . Next Melissa takes a stand …. At a desk. The Omega DENALI Adjustable Height Standing Desk to be exact. Then Mike decides to say to heck with it and start playing games on a CyberPowerPC Game Master Desktop Gaming PC

We start out talking about Melissa’s iPhone and battery issues. Then we compare various podcast listening apps. We talk about Downcast, Castro, Overcast, Doggcatcher, and Anchor.

Next we go on to our picks. First Elisa wants to get fit so she considers a Fitbit Blaze as an Apple Watch alternative (not really this is just pretend after all). Then Melissa wants to clean up so she picks a Shark Navigator Vacuum. Then after all that work Mike just wants to watch video on all his devices so he picks a Harmony Ultimate Remote.

Geekiest Show Ever 275 – The Unidentified Flying Tuna Trot

GSE275-500x390
Correcting a major oversight from last week (and a chance to annoy Mark) we make Kevin happy by having the weather report. From there we move to a cooking disaster story from Elisa (who’d thunk it) which leads us to talk about some of our cooking experiences. Then in keeping with season we then discuss our Black Friday purchases. Elisa enlightens us with some of her value victories,  Mike tells of some of his gaming purchases only one of them was a Black Friday sale. Finally for this section Melissa mentions some of hers which then leads into a discussion of iCloud storage and Apple Family Plans.

For our picks we start with a bonus pick of the SanDisk 256GB iXpand Base for iPhone for computer-less local backup for the iPhone. We then get Melissa’s pick which spurred the whole iCloud discussion, iTunes Gift Card on Amazon (not the least bit confusing). Elisa gives us an idea how to listen to all the music we buy with iTunes Card ( may be while running  off all that turkey at the gym), BeatsX Earphones. And finally Mike has a suggestion for moving your Nintendo Switch to another room so the family that games together can stay together, the J&TOP Portable Dock for Nintendo Switch.

Geekiest Show Ever 274 – ISP Streams

GSE274
This week we start out with a short clip from Kevin explaining the lack of show for the last few weeks and his absence from the show. Then we launch into a discussion of our ISPs and cable providers. From there we compare notes on our routers and network setups. Then we discuss Mike’s twisted logic to justify getting an Apple Tv. This leads to our strategies for movie buying and distribution.

We finish up the show with our picks. Elisa thinks needs a waterproof Kindle Oasis would be awesome for when winter finally retreats and she can open up her beloved pool. Melissa wants a new iPad for “the kids” (Yeah sure). Then Mike picks the Esright Massage Recliner Chair to relieve the stress of getting caught with his video watching.
